The Fae Felis, or just Felis, are one of the four Fae races that populate the realm of Terra. They are characterized by their large ears, long whiskers, long arms and natural affinities towards Red magic. They are based on the real world Felidae family and vary wildly between the three primary races of Felis.
Characteristics
Physical
Among all races of Felis, some common traits are shared. All Felis have eyes with slit irises, long arms that on average reach the upper thigh, average length legs, pawpads on the hands and feet, carpal pads on the arms and legs, retractable claws on the hands and feet, and long whiskers on at least the snout. The Felis display a significant spectrum of sexual dimorphism, with biological males being much larger and stockier than biological women, who are comparatively much smaller and slender in build.
On very rare occasion, a Felis may be born with a genetic mutation that causes them to have two tails. The length of this second tail may vary from the length of the main tail, but they are significantly less prehensile than the main tail in all cases.
Valley

Valley Felis are the most widespread race of Felis, being particular adaptable to most climates but being native to the southern grassland valleys and marshes of Roldea. They have average sized eyes with pointed ears and short snouts with small noses. They have long tails that can be fairly long, and can have a a very broad range of fur length. Biological males have an average height of 5'10" (178cm) and biological females have an average height of 5'4" (161cm).
Among all Valley Felis, the average distribution of hair types has 75% of individuals with full heads of hair, 15% of individuals with tufts, and 10% of individuals with no notable head hair.
Highland
Highland Felis are a stocky, densely-furred race of Felis that primarily house themselves in the snowy tundras and mountain ranges of northern Roldea. Compared to other Felis races, Highland Felis are notably heavier and broader, with smaller eyes and smaller, curved ears. They have moderate-length snouts with wide noses. They have either short, bushy tails or bobbed tails, and medium to long length fur across their body. Unlike other Felis races, they uniquely have long whiskers spanning the length of their eyebrows as well as their snout. Biological males have an average height of 5'9" (175cm) and biological females have an average height of 5'5" (165cm).
Among all Highland Felis, the average distribution of hair types has 30% of individuals with full heads of hair, 60% of individuals with tufts, and 10% of individuals with no notable head hair.
Gr'ahrian
Gr'ahrian Felis are tall, slender, hairless Felis native and especially acclimated to the savannas and deserts of Gr'ahr. They are very slim and tall and lack most, if any fur on their bodies. They have large eyes, large pointed ears, and long snouts with average sized noses. They have long tails , and unlike any other Felis, have adapted dew claws on the outer sides of their arms for improved grip and leverage on dry and smooth terrain. Biological males have an average height of 6'0" (183cm) and biological females have an average height of 5'10" (178cm).
Among all Gr'ahrian Felis, the average distribution of hair types has <1% of individuals with full heads of hair, <1% of individuals with tufted hair, and >99% of individuals with no notable head hair.
Mental
As a species, Felis are naturally curious and inquisitive, often finding the pursuit of knowledge and advancement of a field or belief more valuable than societal conformity, tradition, or self-preservation. Due to this, Felis have throughout history been notably avant-garde and non-conformist culturally, with a notably higher average of queer-identifying individuals, especially in regards to sexuality. The Felis tend to be very independent and introspective, sourcing a large amount of self-confidence and beliefs from their own personal experiences, rather than following a herd mentality.
Spiritual
The Felis are believed to be the "red" shards of the Truekin soul, and thus have a natural inclination towards Red magic. When incarnated from the Sea of Souls, they are drawn into being from red stars. The state of the star at the time of incarnation has no bearing on race, biological or neurological condition, or genetic disorders.
According to Sin Theory, the Fae Felis are associated with the Cardinal Sin of Curiosity.
Culture
Society
Due to the Felis' natural inclination towards discovery and personal growth, the majority of Felis-operated societies follow a democratic, sometimes even meritocratic structure. These societies also commonly do not hold any stigma or discriminatory beliefs towards queer ideologies, and in some cases, it is encouraged. In particular, homosexuality is seen in a very positive and healthy light, being no lesser to society than heterosexuality, and subsequently there is little reproductive anxiety across Felis-operated society. In older Felis society, Polygamy was also generally accepted, but over time it became less acceptable and now is more common only to smaller subsets of Felis culture.
Religion
The Felis have never historically been "religious" in the same sense that the other Fae races are. They do not generally tend to believe in a greater power in the form of a greater plane (such as Astrodeism), holy power within the world itself, or one or more "God" figures. Instead, Felis religion adopts a deeply introspective, somewhat loosely Buddhist set of beliefs, where the empowerment of the self and faith in one's own abilities are the ultimate source of authority and truth. However, unlike other spiritual and religious systems, this belief does not culminate in an organized form of practice or a belief that faith can grant power or favor, and has no particular name or governing principles. It is something that is practiced uniquely from individual to individual, and thus is very nebulous in concept and generally not very well understood by other Fae species.
